Time something we all share

Time only tests our memories
but with hearts so
full of woe
for all our loved ones
who were taken from us
years ago
its in our quieter moments
when each of us recalls
their love and care
it was always there
and really only fools
believe that adage that
time heals
it doesn’t heal at all
if anything it consolidates
and helps to overhaul
any doubts we ever had
of their wisdom and their care
each of them gave
they were very brave
and their love we will
always share

we are the first people
and there can never be
a time when that is
forgotten
those amazing souls
were free
they lived and breathed
emotion
and devotion for the land
for the wildness and their spirit
we all do understand
they walked tall, they were giants
and still their strength we hold
its in our very marrow
in the stories that they told
eternity is where they are
sacrificed were they
but so committed to the cause
as we are still today
their vision is our vision
their spirit is within
that realm that they would take us to
helps to underpin
all the faith they ever held
its in our very soul
we are the first people
and their vision is our goal
