Man invented the cage
and invented the snare
so many cruel contraptions
are there
because man what’s the word
Mankind no way
man un kind that’s the word
I’d use today
imagine the mind of some engineer
who thinks up a way
of enclosing us, fear
not mate a cage with very strong bars
and a bloody great padlocks
under the stars
or a snare so designed
to bust off your limbs
cause the greatest agony
one of his whims
was to create this trap
that would impress on you
what man was about
and what he could do
even a mouse
a tiny wee soul
was caught in a contraption
that made a great hole
in the side of its body
or crushed its wee head
man un kind did it
and the mouse it was dead
but imagine the pain
and the suffering times
imagine the thoughts
of those merrier climes
as life is sucked from you
trapped in this way
what had you done
to deserve this today
a cage for a wild soul
who walked many miles
a cage with a cold floor
ones spirit defiles
only man un kind could deliberate
here
and provide his poor victims
with terrible fear
