The Chinese we know are expanding
their need
they are richer by far
more now succeed
and so they are willing
to buy ivory
forgetting the animals
and where they be
creating a marketplace
now everywhere
leading alas to months
of despair
of poisonings, shootings
carnage abroad
in Africa really
that cannot afford
butchering animals
in this vile way
leaving their carcass
to just melt away
coming upon what is
something so sad
the remains of the animals
of course its bad
they are gentle and huge
they are lovely to see
alive with their babies
wandering free
but lying in heaps
their tusks hacked away
with great sores
on their heads and they pay
with the vilest of agony
as slowly they die
some left for days
we have to ask why
these cruel nasty buggers
descend into hell
and do what they do
but not very well
thousands have been killed
this year alone
poaching is rampant
the crisis was known
back in 99 50 years ago
but now with the upsurge in China
the flow
is startling everyone
some do not know
that the ivory means
lots of elephants go
in a terrible way
their blood it is spilled
some do not know this
that these souls are killed
and so we must tell them
that whatever they buy
many souls fell
and many souls die
crashing down into the bush
those poor dears
hacked with machetes
a face full of tears
required by the hoodlums
the poachers and trolls
who do their dark duty
they all lost their souls
they are terribly twisted
and torn into knots
Financially bankrupt
and ruled by these snots
these black marketeers
who care nothing to see
a beautiful elephant
defiled, tragically
more education
for Chinese who buy
pictures around let them know why
its wrong to buy ivory
terribly wrong
for this day and age
it just doesn’t belong
there are other materials
out there today
killing the elephants
making them pay
with their precious lives
for a buddha or two
is terribly wrong
and then all life through
as more and more elephants
die we shall see
extinction is coming
then where will we be
China must wake up
the Chinese must know
there’s only so many
the victims do grow
Africa is losing so many each year
in a maelstrom of murder
and continuing fear.
