Food Standards

I do not subscribe
to a watering down of standards
I sat for many years
on a committee so
I could have some input
into maintaining the standards
for very quickly
that can in fact go

corporate mainstream policy
can ruin
true standards of honesty
and we
must remain rigidly behind
the organic and bio dynamic
category

natural pure and other words
mean nothing
they have been degraded
over the year
advertisers have used
and abused these words
so calling food by these words
I do fear

will not have the same impact
in reality
and without fear of reprisal
from the law
people tend to wash over their
responsibilities
and out of sight
sometimes they will ignore

derogation always was a moot point
in my heart I never got my head
around the system really it was
not for me
but still it happened and it must be said
it probably helped some farmers
and processors that got themselves in trouble
but I say
a lot of them got there because
of ignorance
and ignorance should never save the day

personally the corporate world
tried very hard
to change organic standards
so that they
could carry on their profit growing
processes
but for a reason we did save the day

strict organic standards have to be
applied
those who moan on money grounds
its sad
if you apply a principle then you must
pay the price
if you regard a principle as crap
then it ain’t nice

to come up with a standard
where you have watered down
the principles I am sorry
I am going to go to town
on those of you who do this
I will never understand
the selfishness that’s present
right across the land

Public health is paramount
The environment is too
Animals health is paramount
in everything we do
any short cuts on this score
for me must never be
go organic or bio dynamic
that’s the only way for me

watering down the creditation
long term is no use
keep it strict and do it right
there can be no abuse
of standards there is argument
but standards must apply
principles are important
as I have tried to quantify
