Bear Paw soup ( drumsticks, legs of lamb, legs of beef, legs of pork and so on)

We’ve eaten chicken legs
and legs of lamb
and legs of beef
and legs of pork
and all of those that do
don’t question it

well only some perhaps now
very few

Bear paw seemingly attracts
criticism
really because
its not done in the West
these bear paws
though the facts
are clear
it calls for abject agony
that stifles care and thought
which must be addressed

its what we do with the animals
that we consume, so caught
up in all the misery
but we do not bat an eye
and we are the first to take the
Chinese now to task
my question really has to be now why?

As a vegan I’m against it all
the cruelty is there
for the deaths of all these creatures
all are equally unfair

I did not set out to degrade
the bears,
those creatures
wild they are and proud
they be
but I see the shallowness
of western thinking
the chickens and the pigs
cows and baby

lambs their legs are roasted
with the garnish
not a sound
pictures in the magazines
and spread across the TV screens
and in their blood each of them was drowned

yes its wrong for the bears
their awful sacrifice
but the West must look inside itself too
and see
those animals its eats
are equally valuable
the creator loves all animals
equally.

stop the vile consumption of all animals
Bear Paws Chicken legs
pig legs and all
Cow legs in our stews
and little lambs
that fall
about and jump and dance
in the green meadows
and the calves shot dead
or strangled in the field
and that’s because we choose
to eat our yoghurt
and the human dairies
want that bigger yield

we’re told to splash the cold milk
on our crispies
and what we’re told we do
it every day
pump our kids with sugar
and then steal it from the calves

and then go off to church
and kneel and pray
