The silver backs of Uganda

Silver backs are a mountain tribe
cut off from human kind
beautiful vegetarians
with a rather, brilliant mind
we go into their habitat
and then are moved to see
them being very curious about us
when we be
similar in many ways
though clothed of course that’s true
and that must warrant a closer look
which is what the children do
they actually get closer
get intimate and touch
they smell and well their senses
from us they do learn much
massive souls huge bodies
the strength of many men
but able to be peaceful too
and gentle really when
they want to be
and here we saw
them, caressing his hair
wondering I suppose who he was
and why he was sitting there
the cameraman was awe struck
its something now that he
will have inside his heart
and why not it was key
it proved beyond all negative thoughts
that gorillas are sentient souls
and in their habitat at large
know how to play their roles
