The Odzala-Kokova NATIONALPARK CONGO and its wild life

Poaching is a very serious business
Take Odzala-Kokova National Park
where we can see
the forest Elephant and other
wondrous creatures
in verdant forests
whose bio diversity

is second only to the
mighty Amazon,the eco system
rocky but alive
which is borne in part
with the stalwart teams
of eco guards
who unflinchingly
ensure the wild survive

recently the infamous
“Pepito” the Ivory Poaching
kingpin round these parts
who masterminded really a huge
network
was arrested raising
hopes in many hearts

the forest Elephants have seen
felt such terror
slaughtered in their thousands
tragically
rampant all around these
pristine settings
the gangs have been
applying quite a squeeze

but recently the detection rate
is higher
and inroads have been made
against these routes
as the prosecutions rise
we can rely much more
on a drop off for the
poaching so the roots

are giving hope to those existing
souls who roam
caches of ammunition
have been seized and confiscated
and with the big boss now
in custody
and a tome

of evidence against him
and his networks
this could be the beginning
of the end
enforcement clearly
has been so effective
and hopefully this message
it will send

to all those thoughtless people
poaching ivory
and Rhino horn
and Tiger bones
that Africa has really had
enough
too many of their wild and lovely
species have been massacred
and its of course its just become too tough

the dedicated dangerous work
now being done
by local officers who tirelessly
work in dangerous locations
and who seem to have the
poachers on the run

Africa and the world at large
are indebted to their work
and prowess they are indeed a
special team
who take their lives in their
own hands now every single day
but are diligent at
creating their own dream
