The slaughterhouse

The slaughterhouse or death camp
slaughtering day and night
slitting thtoats like crazy
some don’t think its right
but then they want their rare steak
their sashimi. their rare lamb
the crunchy skin on piglets
the saltiness of ham

the slaughterhouse
breeds cruelty
imagine those men there
slitting throats and
and burning beaks
and pulling out the hair
pulling off the cow skin
for some leather chair
throwing turkeys skywards
and piglets on the ground
kicking sows and slitting throats
listening for the sound
the death camp deals in death of course
the struggle that some make
to edge off of the gantry
or, just stay awake
and imagine those men working there
all those hours each day
cutting heads off piglets
and tossing them away
opening pregnant cows up
and pulling their babies free
slitting their throats
and tossing them into bins
how would that be
but someone has to do it
for you lot want to eat
lots of juicy bloody antibiotic ridden meat
you want the odd fat maggot
you need that bacteria too
and that is what you are getting
from the meat trade straight to you
