On the Faroe islands bad habits die hard

Laden with mercury
and PCB’s
at levels now that cause
concern
the Faroe Pilot Whales
who die
in their hundreds
as we learn
all are eaten
every year
building up ongoing fear

of Cancers forming and Karma too
but the islanders feel still what they dp
is protect themselves
from food shortage and
these murderers do
understand
the tradition has to carry on
until every pilot whale is gone

and so the slaughter
is done by hand
all able bodied
yes they stand
in line at the surf line
for to maim
and slaughter its like
their sick game

blood is flowing everywhere
moments of complete despair
a death frenzy
that all the world
can witness
where we have been hurled
into their maelstrom
we can see
man and beast fight
earnestly

but by man’s own hand
his solution
is to eat his own
pollution
it will be the death of him
tradition
culture
perhaps a whim

will see the cancer rates
move higher
and already they have reached
the wire
