Canned hunting there is no chase there is nothing but murder

Lined up looking tentative
a brace of lions, we see
canned hunts are now all the rage
and angry, yes I be
semi tame these noble souls
raised in enclosures, they
are murdered by the tourists
on any given day

what its about is giving
the tourist hunter, power
guaranteeing him a kill
almost on the hour
and really if there is no chase
the animals can’t run
they stand and kind of look right
at the man who holds the gun

most raised on game ranches
around, some humans who
feed them and look after them
and are familiar too
its nothing like a wild
lion or an elephant
and so
the heartless tourists
pay by card
that is all they know

not everybody likes it
it is an unfair space
maybe its something to show the boys
but in essence a disgrace
the animals can’t get a way
the guns they use
have power
its brutal and its so unfair
its big game hunting now

that anyone can contemplate
action packed it be
and provided they pay
a decent sum
they can have a guarantee
hemmed in by high fences
semi tame they are
an easy target really
and the hunter is the star

the countries that allow this
sell their souls away
to the so called
jet set
who are ready to pay
and so many animals
are shot to death by these
hunters so called brain dead
who just about can squeeze
a trigger and watch the bullets fly
and cut down some sad soul
who couldn’t run to save its life
no one should condole

this evil, nobody at all
its such a sick affair
watch a wild one hit the dust
its sweet legs in the air
premeditated murder
really that’s the name
and now its up to governments
to stop killing wild game

its sends all sorts of
messages around the world
to share
sacrificing earthlings
some that are so rare
is tantamount to tragic
and what could now be sought
is the gun could be exchanged
for a camera I’d have thought
