A question mark for Chinese goods

Chinese Foodstuffs maybe very suspect
at this time
the Huang pu river pigs
the number found did climb
more than 13,000 bodies
fished out of the river
as they all floated downstream
bound for dear old Shanghai
and of course this was no dream

It was a hellish nightmare
the path of no return
but it seems the pigs had
some disease and rather than just burn,
ZheJiang farmers calmly
just lobbed them out of sight
into the river one by one
when they thought the time
was right

when they were discovered
maggoty and rife
with every horrid colour
and clear in so much strife
the authorities put out
a dictum the water that you drink
is absolutely perfect
despite the piggy stink

Remember back a few years
in milk what some did find
Melamine a substance added
and it was underlined, added by producers
to try to make more dosh
some were sentenced to death I hear
but why, it doesn’t wash
babies died and surely its still around today
its in the fertilisers
somehow they had to pay

but where were the authorities
clearly no checks were made
its wasn’t backyard selling
in was big time stuff
that played
out into the superstores
and caused a lot of grief
and when you imagine
the size of China
it just beggars belief

Pork is China’s favourite
and CAFO’s now exist
everywhere the factory farm,
is harder to resist
a seething mass of bodies
all crammed into one space
controllable by robots
or those without a face
vast arrays of humans
all decked out to be
on a vast assembly
and disassembly line
a key
to making enough profit
the commodities
alas
are pigs the tribes
are ailing
and suffering en masse

in the corporate grip
the farmers seemingly were sure
intense farming
never ever done like this
before
the animals paid heavily
for their incarnation here
so many spare rib gluttons
out there, it became clear

some eat so much pig
each week
that producing so much mean’t
antibiotics were the thing
as if they were
Heaven sent

and so the pigs got fatter
and quickly their dead weight
gave profit to the farmers
and everyone felt great
but antibiotics don’t stop there
they entered our food chain
a great feat of re-cycling
in reality, insane

but the rush for making profits
silenced all that fear
and of course what we are seeing
lately fatties do appear
and the antibiotics are resident
and their immunity
is shot away completely
they are ruined actually

when they enter our domain
it serious for we
cannot fight infections
the risk to humanity
its all gone down the plug hole
and talking about drains
they have been using sewer oil
to cook with and more pains
its all to do with money
so evil, when its tight
Eating foods from China
is like some awful blight

but as we see in America
it is no better there
the corporates are so huge
mislabelling they share
the government is powerless
Monsanto tells them they
will understand that labelling
has to be this way

GM now is resident in foods
and no one knows
millions of dollars
were paid in
to fight the labelling prose
and recently Monsanto
won the battle royal
and we all are no more the wiser
GM or motor oil

Goods now made in China
or the great old USA
personally I’m not eating
it
not now from today
