If the Masai can do it so can all hunters

The Masai bold hunters
up against a lion
or Buffalo perhaps
with a short bit of iron
not a bloody great rifle
from ambush oh! no
but out in the open
the warriors go
and when in the past
a charging lion
was killed by the Masai
his light he did shine
in his death the lion
became the masai’s
and now the same soul
can realise
to kill just for fun
makes no sense at all
the bowhunters
riflemen hunters
a rule
to you I say
you should be banned
the world over
Today
go shoot at targets
and leave well alone
the animals please
I’d rather you’d moan
about paper targets
than listen and sigh
as some beautiful animal
earthling does die
the animals please
the bad seeds you have sown
are causing such sadness
more than most have known
with so much pain and so much woe
Hunters I’m sorry
its you that must go
have the guts and the courage
of the Masai
lay down you arms
let no other souls die
go shoot your targets
on some authorised place
and leave the wild children
to show us their face
