Their past was our future Canada wake up before its too late

The Attawapiskat reserve isn’t happy
despite De Beers and the Diamonds
quite close by
the hunger strike began
and chief Spence is weakening
Canada may ask itself
now why
there seems to be much
distance from the indigenous
the “idle no more”
is indicating this
the noises that the
Government are making
on reserve sales
and all is not now bliss
the treaty relationship comes in for
scrutiny
in a tipi she now
contemplates
the future
hoping those in Ottawa will try
and come and see
the great chief and just hear her out
for otherwise, it might just be
she’ll die
its clearly getting very serious
her death could spark a hatred
that would last
and doubt now really what they are doing for her
people
who had it not been for them
would have had no past
