Forest Boy

I saw the sky had islands
of cloud now in the blue
coal black shadows moving in
as through the Beech, I view
snow fairies getting ready
to paint the plants
that grow
the wind has dropped
dramatically
for Jack is in the know
his time has come
he’s ready, with his army
and they must
get out there
with all the frost
and everywhere just dust
for this is what they
do
it is essential for it does
kill off bugs and plant
disease
and create a buzz
amongst the faerie people
who otherwise might be
lost in the vile sickness
that can kill them instantly
at this time faeries are at risk
the cold can make them low
and if there’s sleet
their tiny feet
turn blue
and every toe
can crack which is just
awful
and very painful too
you might ask how
I know these things
well I’m a forest boy
I go there almost every day
for there I do find joy
amongst the trees
their energy
their spirit
and their soul
and quietly wandering
in their midst
I understand their role
the early morning hoo har
amongst the fairy rings
where spiders leave their
silky webs
and the puff ball dust cloud
brings
a sense of true creation
wander there and feel
open up your eyes and ears
and realise how real
the faerie world is, actually
behold, its there, and we
must believe for when we do
then we begin to see
I met a women years ago
who walked the forest floor
who knew so much about
the faeries
and told me how sure
she was that, we together
could help them, and so I
have always walked more gently
and have seen so many fly
at ley lines, and where radiation
flows out of the earth
its there we find the tiny one’s
for they all know the worth
of tree root cities, old felled trees
and mycellium malls, aware
the goblins and the elves
provide security right there
In the forest I still see her
she’s my Goddess, and I know
that so much of the knowledge
is down to her, I grow
closer to her and the earth
with every passing day
her cottage is down a dark lane
with a tree trunk in the way
I follow her and stay with her
when she wants me too
for I am in love with everything she does
and how I rue
that she was not my first love
and that we could live together
by the cauldron share great spells
of clearly finer weather
