Violence and aggression
And the Corporate obsession
the vile and sad oppression
that witnessed the procession
the forest took a battering
it seemed it was earth shattering
birds and mammals scattering
a cacophony of chattering
that left the branches splaterring
that saw the blood lust pattering
such a sad transgression
which led to some depression
each dastardly impression
came without concession
the Planets Lungs regression
a dire, repossession
the life force’s reaction
a terrible retraction
it was a big distraction
sadly, no benefaction
the soil saw inflammation
brought on by automation
a classic transformation
cleared by machination
Oil Palm decimation
a rogue reverberation
and an underestimation
based on misinformation
and utter ruination
considerable murmeration
and of course indoctrination
has led to contamination
of our vital lands
a massive extermination
the Orangutan’s salvation
replaced by vermination
the rats their rumination
an abomination
of course their domination
and now recrimination
Orangutan and Indigenous
over the duration
have sunk into the abyss
with so much desperation
a complete domination
and denunciation
in fact annihilation
and certain decimation
the Planets lungs
they plunder
emerging from the thunder
the trees all torn a’sunder
an oxygenation blunder
The Orangutan’s are fleeing
the Indigenous are being
swept aside still pleading
about their exploitation
its now an inundation
which has led
to isolation
and a mass
expiration
Back to the corporation
the vile agglomeration
sick subordination
and of course
deforestation
no thought for conservation
no thought of preservation
just appropriation
of what was forest land
utter humiliation
for those guardians
who gave immense
and thoughtful dedication
Now we see the Oil Palm
altercation
the evil and
the disassociation
and finally the foulest
fabrication
and as its turned
out complete degradation
underpinned by massive
manipulation
the corporate rape and pillage
of a Nation
we see alas
a violent escalation
on habitat loss
an underestimation
and this has been my honest
interpretation
for the Orangutan’s were
closest to my heart
and the Indigenous
they were there
from the start
The Planets lungs
convulsed and tossed aside
and in their place
the bowels
twisted and dried
the planet reels
as corporates do draw
vast sums of money
and seem to want more
and Oil Palm
now replaces forests green
the life force
for what is
now quite obscene.
Orangutans have a lot to do with poetry. Peace, sensitiveness, deep thought, love, sweetness, and strength too. There’s a poem in the eyes of each orangutan. If adult, that poem is about the deep knowledge of the forest, If young or teen, it’s about freedom and love. If baby, it’s about the golden shine of the innocence.
I agree, Hernan. Orangutans are truly poetic and philosophical in their nature. They are wonderfully calm and serene beings (generally) and have so much to teach the neurotic human race. But, they will vanish soon from this earth and when they are gone, only then, will we fully understand what an irreplaceable loss to the planet, and to us, our destruction of them has caused.
Thank you both for your comments on a poem I wrote this morning about our beloved Orangutan’s I am just about to write another now if you call back you will see it on the blog in about 1/2 an hour, thank you for taking the time to read it
Beautifully descript. Thank you for composing/sharing it, Rex. Anticipating the next one. Do you give permission to use it for presentations and other purposes with credit given to you? Sincerely, Lesa
Dear Lesa,
Thank you so much for your positive response to a poem I wrote yesterday about our beloved Orangutan’s I notice you are from the orangutanrepublik
Gary Shapiro may remember me from the work I did with the breakfast cereal company who packaged some of their product with great apes and the rain forest on their boxes
I have been quietly writing away ever since and it is humbling really to be able to help you and others spread the message. You have my permission to use it how you see fit
and that goes for all my work, Perhaps you would give my respects to Gary. I shall be back in Malaysia in November and I intend to find more material in Melaka
and other places I shall be there for about a month. Thank you again Lesa for being so positive and kind
Loved your poem .Thank you for sharing …I in turn have shared with many of my Orangutan loving friends, posted on my FB and on a site I work for to improve our World ,make it greener and educate people to save it
Thank you Margaret I am so pleased you enjoyed the poem and its was so kind of you to re post it here there and everywhere. I find words
do sometimes inspire people at least to think, and poetry in whatever form has been able to achieve sometimes what a letter or a signature on a petition
cannot achieve.Thank you so much it is by us all communicating around the world that the plight of all earthlings animals and human can be improved
It is really humbling to know you all. Thank you
I love the poem Rex – what about trying to get a big rap artist to record it and spread the word far and wide? I will share it on FB too.
Thank you
