The orange earth by the side of the Railway

A rich orange earth

Gives birth

to the brush

Vast plains of green

and a heavenly hush

Clearly fire ravaged

Laid black everywhere

But from death and destruction

Comes new life to share

A red road to no where

Runs merrily onward

reflecting Man’s pure

ingenuity and

Carved out of this immense land

it traverses the railway

his need for he did understand

The commitment was worth

The back breaking ardour

The blood  sweat and the tears

that were lost

in the fight

to maintain a route

through the countryside

which man s believed

was his right at all cost
