A hot day in April
A Sunday
Why not!
Lets go down to the falls
we can all see a lot
So our destination
was Les Murdie Falls
easy to reach
though from various chools
a thought on this subject
But Stephen agreed
to get down to the look out
I should succeed
So off we all went
With clatter and song
Cris and the little ones
What could go wrong?
Everyone left me
I struggled to see
If I could manage
the climb and still be
able to see the falls
that was my quest
getting there
really I have to invest
some extra gumption
for 2 levels down
the paving ran out
and loose stone grey and brown
Steps without hand rails
and dangerous terrain
and now on my own
mean’t a great deal of strain
So decided to sit at rock level 2
Wondering really what I could do
About 2 hours later
they did return
there wasn’t much water there
that much I learn
so not much to see
which was sad in a way
For it could have been great
Somebody did say
The scenery, birdlife
the speciment trees
But along came mosquito’s
to sample my knees
my elbows, my arms
I had no where to go
I became the blood bank
and boy did it flow
So I thought philosophically
What I could do
Was maintain composure
and do that all through
For my blood would ensure
The babies would thrive
And that in itself
helped me to survive
I still have some scars
a month or 2 later
But could have had worse
if I’d met an old gator
so Lesmurdie Falls was
a day out for me
And I helped, a cute mosquito
family.
So it wasnt so bad
a day in the sun
some solitude and
if I’m honest some fun
