Slaughtering methods in Abattoirs have changed without the Public’s knowledge

Who made the decision
for somebody did
To have meat from
Un stunned animals
Sid
Was it Sid, or did it
just happen one day
A stun gun went missing
So, the only way
Was to lead the sweet calves
Into, the abattoir
Put a chain round their foot
And hoist them, they are
Dangling that’s when a
man with a knife
Cuts a bloody great slit in their
throat
Then their life

ends in a kind of dire
blood thirsty way
As the slitter is covered
in blood
he can pay
His maker inflicting
this torrent of pain
as the poor sodding
calf shakes. and falls
off the chain

writhing below in its
blood on the floor
Was this religious?
To me, blood and gore
Has no place in any
farm animals end
Docile and loving
somebody’s friend
So the stun gun
went missing
in one abattoir
and now slaughter
without it
is common
the star
of the piece
the poor creature
Whose thoughts we
don’t know
As we eat his rare
rump with chips
and a glow

of complete
satisfaction
comes over our face
Cos we are part of the
great human race
We let people raise
cows and pigs, so that we
can chomp on their body parts
So happily

We don’t even care
What pain they go through
Or whether they’re stunned
For us, its a new
Paradigm
and, supermarkets galore
Because of their heritage
Kosher seems sure
or Muslim some holy man
blessing the meat
Most couldn’t care less
Shechita complete
with Rabbi
Dhabiha or something
Halal,
but to my mind
its wrong
And so boy or gal

you should realise
where your salt beef
Comes from, and
The creature they
sacrificed
Yes had it planned
To go on that day
Life is sacred to all
But in that sad moment
Blood poured down the wall
Its trachea torn out
Its poor soul, its eyes
in agony, rolling
In abject surprise

Most Supermarkets
Have now introduced
This method of killing
The truth has been loosed
on the public, they now know
each time they consume
Meat Can they feel
Its impending doom
As it went to its maker
in a great deal of pain
thrashing about
on a rusty old chain
The Jews will not eat certain
parts, and so you
If a gentile will eat it
no labels on view
Sweetbreads of whatever
placed on a tray
the consumer won’t know
But may want to I’d say

Was it influenced
by the great
Jewish Boards
Something did happen
were their cash rewards
a process cut out
may be cutting the cost
But a principled ethic
I believe, has
been lost
and when calves, cows,and pigs
not forgetting the sheep
Are led into the abattoir
what we sow, they reap
We’re after profit
the wages of sin
No prophet exists
not in this foul din
This hell hole, this evil place
Butchering souls
Thank God I am vegan
with such different goals

Kathy it is my pleasure, some of these subjects are not necessarily what you would find as a subject for a poem but it is nice that you were kind enough to express a positive view. Thank you
