Wildness and the lovely birds
wagtails to be sure
Who nest on arable grass land
For them it’s like a war
Of attrition for the mission
Of their family and their young
Of building nests of straw and feathers
Living out among
Farming lands, imagine it
The great threat for them all
Combine harvesters
It’s high energy grass
For the cows
it’s all on call
Silage fermented energy
And eggs and babies they
Often just get crushed
Dead to the world
So many pay
Little fawns left waiting
A mother
When she comes to find her charges
Broken
Emotionally she sums
up all the shocking sadness
her precious babies they
We’re Crushed and lost forever
Leaving her in with such dismay
Wagtails lives are complex
Out in fields where we
Care about our profit base
More Than wild birds flying free
They just don’t get a look In
Roe deer babies
they
Just don’t know what hits them
The family blown away
Farmland birds are suffering
Reduced now a great deal
Tractors take out everything
Yes Life and death is Real.
