Summer Solstice

The solstice brings an energy
a perception of the whole
tempered by an auric veil
explaining our true soul
the responsiveness is instant
an effusiveness remains
a kind of intoxication
with an impact that just gains

that tantalising feeling
both humbling yet strong
fighting back the passion
which just seems to belong
in the ardour of each moment
spirited and true
As Roll Rights shares its history
with me and of course with you

The Cotswold Order stands alone
Our circle says so much
love and joy and understanding
that can only touch
the heartstrings, the emotion
the devotion that we feel
but where is Summer I now ask
will the great sky soon reveal
in the truest sense some real light
to warm our precious earth
to help us feel those warming rays
that we know has so much worth

This is the summer solstice
We need a sky of blue
the sunlight with its sparkle
to generate a hue
of gold or red of silver
and create the light we love
we really need to see it
shining from above
