Sharks

We co exist with sharks
But we are monsters in so many ways
Too big for our boots alas
Drowning in our own malaise
Apex predators placed here
To guide and to keep control
The sharks the wolves
These iconic souls
They knew their precious role

In the biosphere providing
A balance but sadly
We drew upon our arrogance
When we entered their blue sea
We removed their fins
For sharks fin soup
Then threw their bodies back
The wolf too all were hunted down
Both tribes got no slack

By slaughtering them
Will inevitably
Mean we are killing ourselves too
The sharks all have their identity
Core members so to do
The dirty on them
Honestly we let our own selves down
We break the bonds they tie
Us to our roots
And so we drown

We imbalance all the oceans
Our preponderance of guilt
And disproportionate torture
As life begins to wilt
Under the tremendous
mistakes that we all make
Our fishing always wishing
We could eat each others cake
