From the Ghan

The Ghan’s horns sound
and off she goes
rattling along
Red Kangaroo folk
like myself
aLL along
hear her whimper and then
chugg away
across the great bush floor
The sky above resembles
a great desert of blue
not a cloud, not anywhere
ust rich red soil so true
the shrubs of olive dryness
struggle for to grow
more horn sounds from the
massive Ghan
who rapidly can show
its human’s supping Shiraz
Roast Beef and Gateaux
whilst we in Kangaroo by now
legs up
don’t want to know.
