How do you think Farmed salmon in the supermarkets are apparently so cheap

Cheap Farmed Salmon from the housewives
perspective is just great
It provides a spectacular protein on the families plate
The Supermarkets sell it, and it compares with meat
So is often bought and brought home for a family treat
What the British housewife fails to think about
Is why the salmon is so cheap she think its
about clout
The great power of the supermarkets buying it really well
She doesn’t stop to ask herself or them, what kind of Hell
The salmon lived in or the feed the salmon took to grow
Why should she think of all of that she doen’t want to know
Ethics don’t come into the equation in the West
All they want is protein at a cost that is the best
In Peru the people living there in Chimbote
once a paradise for all to sea
With wild life flourishing all around the coastal climes
And everybody there was so happy
Then Industrial farming, hit their economy
and the anchovies that swim out in the sea
Were shovelled up in tonnes and tonnes for fish meal and the factories thereabouts did avidly
Produce this chemical muck and stole the anchovies
That were feeding all the wild folk in the sea
And now the Dolphins and the Seals are dying
and the people too are suffering badly
The chimneys cough out terrible pollution it
falls down on the towns around
Bronchitis and respiratory shit is everywhere
Effluent is pumped into the ground
So much degradation of the environment
So Peru can charge the West a measly sum
So the Supermarkets here can make their margins and the British Housewife she too can have some
Reason to go out and buy the salmon, again she doesn’t realise how bad
Salmon Farming here is for the environment
and how much pesticide thats used,        its mad!
But it actually is all to do with profit
massive profit for the Corporate few
Who do not care a monkeys for consumers or the people living in Peru
And  consumers are for sure are not getting quality
And in a way now know one can understand
My advice to housewives or house husbands, is leave that awful stuff Leave well alone
It is costing so much, and it should be out of touch

Honestly their cover has been blown
And if it carries on being so popular
Clearly the consumers will suffer too
The effects of Karma are  hitting the farmer
and it won’t be long before it falls on you

The Ecologist magazine has done several investigations on this trade and it really needs the housewives of the Western World to respond to the families in Peru and to the fish having to go through such terrible conditions.
