On a public highway
a baby sloth was trying
cars passing every which way
to cross there was no denying
its resolute involvement
a man tried seemingly
To rescue the poor animal
but was hopeless actually
another came and another
they carried the baby to
the mother half way up a tree
and presented her
to do
this intimate act of kindness
the mother’s face
we saw
the love was hugely wonderful
clearly it was raw
wildness true emotion
which struck me to the core
