Fireworks

Rained off this evening
A good idea
Explosive forces
Generate fear
Foxes and badgers
Squirrels and mice
Birds in the night roosts
A swirl of the dice

I hate all these noises
Alien sounds
Screech of the rockets
Some heftier pounds
Imported bangers
They frighten they do
It’s not fair on pet cats
For me it is true

Fear lays bare feelings
They don’t understand
Scraping and shrieking and whistling
Drowns
Out the night music
The fearsome the calls
The countryside suffers
It does break the rules
