Affirming the Neolithic spirit

assiduous and mindful

across the centuries

Neolithic panderings

a watchfulness  our knees

made stronger by the greenery

the Sarsons by them all

the Romans their centurions

And of the Iron  age  as a rule

 

tugging at the sinews

dragging over time

The standing stones

such powerful bones

And the violence of each climb

 

fat hen a glorious green plant

a native  of a place

nutritious plain and simple

the surviving human race

the leaves are like a gooses foot

chenopodium she

significant percentages

of water collectively

 

carbohydrates seven per cent

and some protein too

part t of the Spinach family

on wasteland  good and true

in India its Bathua

in Nepal added to

seeds like coloured quinoa

a life force where the few

 

maintain a strength of charactor

such vitality

a medley of pure wildness

prefer the foraged  throng

the side shoot leaves and flower spikes

its where health does belong.

 

 

 

When the great heavy Sarsons and blue stones

were dragged to the site itvwas done by men

who feasted on forage
