she lights up every room she is in
with her gently little voice
i was in Berkhamsted
she in Yorkshire a good choice
to be so very far away
but her clarion call I heard
also called a cavy and i thought she was a bird
when i was in Ecuador very far away
on the volcanic slopes the cavy
spend each joyful day
they run about all over
happy little souls
the Andes Mountains
are beautiful
and its there they live their roles
5000 years BC domesticated, were they
with little ears and short legs
they are not a pig ok
not from Guinea either
something they cant ignore
Their teeth are growing all their life
which is why they have to gnaw
its their squeaking sounds
a bit pig like thats a hint i feel
otherwise they are rodents
thats the honest deal.
candle is a lovely name
where there is light there is hope
in the Andes we use a candle
in the darkness we can cope
out across the mountain ranges
a candle can be seen
and family know where we all are
or actually where we have been.
Its a bit like being an ancient man
from stone age times his eyes
seeing a light across the mountains
just to realise
a candle in the pitch black
is wonderful to see
another name for the Guinea pig
is commonly “cuyi”
