Vegan Faux Gras

He saw the light

Of warriors fighting fifty years

A lot of  pounding pavements

sore backs lots of tears

thousands and thousands of poems

threats from the food trade

Threats from the meat trade  mob

on our backs they have laid

vast amounts of clutter

Let me mutter as I rest

it took the foie gras warriors

who visited his place

Struck hard at his takings

Which to  them was a disgrace

torture causing vile disease

and flogging it to death

Selling it  to his punters

can you hear the choking breath

of the geese and  ducks

their livers swollen ten times

greater than

god in all his wisdom

who hadn’t produced a plan

It had fallen to the Chef brigade

the farmers and the rest

the torturers,the murderers

who did their work with zest

who took these beautiful water birds

webbed feet for the age

and took away the water

and thrust them in a cage

squawking their dear heads off

uncomfortable as hell

stuffed corn balls down their poor young throats

making their livers swell

liverish and sickly

painful throats as well

the meat trade know the secrets

of giving angels HELL!

the chefs went on with serving

the protestors did their  thing

waves and waves pounded the streets

trying hard to bring

the consciousness much higher

to reach the cheffy mob

good at charging massive bills

and, parading their gob

now we hear the chef has changed

actually seen the light

shame it was  the protestors

who brought to you their fight

Rolling  in the profit

no prophets then around

the vegan warriors carried on

pounding the hard ground

moved along by coppers

shouted at by those

Chicken and duck eaters

For foie gras it did pose

quite a frustrating story

but foie gras was still sold

and now there is vegan faux gras

a philosophy so bold

Gauthier Soho is now vegan

bandwagon trading they

have seen the light and are carrying it

they know it is  the way

no misinterpretation

the geese and ducks

will quack

why your lack of  pity

your hardness of heart

all those throats made sore by metal tubes

right from the start

callous persecuting

remorseless unrelenting

Rigour and intolerance

and spleens Yes they were venting

It took  a heap of  suffering

lamenting day and night

our gratitude is with protestors

the vegans they were right

and now the chefs are changing tune

admitting they were wrong

the irreverence for table  birds

Just does not belong

anywhere anymore
