We were notified
In a pipe beside an busy country road
Was a mother dog
With her babies
Carrying one heavy load

Clearly little food around
In what was such thick snow
Nestled in the hedge
Cold and windswept as we know
Bright blue eyes as doleful
As any you might see
Three lovely little puppies
Inside there they be

We called and mother came to us
She trusted us and we
Set to work to fetch her babies
And they numbered three
They all came back to our shelter
ComfortAbly now inside
In a basket of straw
With food and water
And a vet on hand
We are sure

She shared with us her honour
Our humbleness proved we
Brought our salutations
And our reverence to be
And the mother she picked up on that
Came to us freely she
Felt our true sincerity
Felt the eternity
