Silbury HILL

5000 years Up till today
It has to be possible I have to say
Measured in megalithic yards
And witnessed then by possibly bards
Who like me wrote down all that they saw
The shimmering chalk rising from off the floor
Into the sky where cohesion was made
A meeting place where in essence they laid
A stepped pyramid loftily
A covered mound that now just stands free
Just South of Avebury and what we see
And feel in our hearts the integrity

The fullness clearly that’s brought to bear
Who knows how many have put it there
Symmetrical such harmony
Systematic clarity
Countless numbers worked the hill
Beyond our comprehension still
Lasting age long ever green
Immortality has been
Perpetual everlastingly
it rose and became the enduring scene

That we see today through
the mists of time
Antiquity itself did climb
As earthworks go perpetuity
Regards the miracle we see
An enlightened age
An maturity
An auspicious opportunity
An unfailing continuity
A predominance and a potency
A vantage ground
From which to see
The energy from the stars at night
Much closer to the moons bright light
A compelling mesmeric momentous place
Where the ancients all came face to face

With the godly few with the higher race
Able to breathe from an infinite space
Over the moorland the hinterland where
Enemies gathered wanting to share
The expansive vision
Stretching away
To the far distance
Making their play
A purposeful sign
Zeroing in on a
truer perspective
On a chosen day
