In actuality
What I saw today
Was daffodils their trumpets
Sounding out clearly a way
Ahead even of snowdrops
Still to break cover who
Undeniably are imminent
And should soon be
Showing too
Minus five and icy
And some snow appeared
And then a day less colder
Followed by frosts
So feared
But now we see the golden
Trumpets blaring out a tune
Created to be heralding Spring
For them perhaps high noon
Fooled by the warmer weather
Its essentialness is here
The embodiment of a magick
That brings a jolt of cheer
To what is surely Winter
To what is ice and snow
To what is characteristic
Of when these flowers should grow
It is quite a dilemma
A congenital display
Almost foreign at this time
So early in the day
Breaking through jack’s carpet
A finely goassamer shower
Already formed and beautiful
From its lissom bower
It just feels rather random
A disparity to be
Intrusive in this day and age
And intruder possibly
Illogical inapplicable
SPring is weeks away
And here we see the daffodils
And their spring like array
It all seems quite chaotic
Muddled in a way
And may be problematical
For again we hear today
Winter’s chill is coming fast
And all these pioneers
May be stressed out in the melee
And some emerging tears
Their fragility and brittleness
Exposed for all to see
The purest evanescence
That ever there can be
Encountering the hoariness
Each brumal shale and sound
And Still some days from imbolc
As a hard frost coats the ground
