Mud Minnows and our beloved science heads

To come up with this amazing piece
Of science
400 little souls were caught and killed
Already they were teetering
On survival
And what the research has told us
Well it chilled

Me as a human being
our emotions
shot away
By poisoning our souls
And doing it more each day

In waterways so polluted so corrupted
We interrupted them ith our cocktail of controls
But Gaia our great mother
Has succeeded
In giving strength to substance
And their roles

These fish have evolved to counteract
The toxins we produce
And continue their existence
In agony I deduce

As to whether we clean up
Our waterways or we
Carry on polluting them
and become history

One wonders really how much
All this science costs and why
The outcome doesnt make us think
That mutants also die
