“Dark”The witch the film

It penetrates the psyche
With its slow and wicked gait
Unrighteous and iniquitous
It just feels like a date
With guilt and culpability
Back in the time before
A pilgrim family in New ENgland
Who found themselves at war

With the church and so were banished
To a far off wilderness
To a plot of land
And a forest
Where their overall convictions
Doubled up creating stress
The horror of each moment
Slowly introduced as we
Were drawn into their battle
To their dark depravity

Failure of their crops
And a frustration born of Hell
How innocence in the wrong hands
How compunction and remorse
How defilement of ones character
Can be a driving force
Thomasin the youthful girl
Was able somehow to
Withstand the family pressure
Which followed her all through

The prejudice of religion
And sanctity of soul
And when one night the infant
Mysteriously took its role
To vanish to the torrid tears
And the evil of the mind
That seeks to condemn the innocent
And which slowly does unwind

The drama is intense the mood is dark
And overall
The script and the direction
And the music builds to fall
Robert Eggers clearly makes his case
And we all feel
As the horror builds and terror wields
It’s impossible to conceal

The animals become a darkly force
A babe is lost for sure
The son is soon possessed of spirits
His purity undone
Found naked at the doorway
Suspicion tears their hearts
wItchcraft and their daughter
As Retribution starts

Within this Puriton family
Religion through and through
Now being plagued by scapegoats
It’s what the mind can do
The prejudice of ignorance
The hysteria of shame
The temporal fear and loathing
That comes out of any flame

The sound effects the mind at play
The witch of the wood perhaps
It’s always easy to chastise those
Who may have been under wraps
But now are coming out let’s say
And Sexually they are
Experiencing those changes
The excitement which is far
Removed from those beyond this
Those feelings those desires
That may denigrate the faithful
And re kindle pious fires

Treachery and terror it all becomes a test
And unremitting study of sorcery at best
It was faithfully created everything in place
Historically before the Salem Witch Trials
But the pace
Was slow and unremitting it was torture in many ways
Presbyterianism and it’s prejudices flying in the face
A kind of undercurrent bringing witches to the fore
Grappling with this serpent unfairly and whats more
Cracking down on the alchemy the fusion of the spent
Where theocracy doth champion and the pagan must relent

Now I will watch tHe film again in the cold light of day
And write it up again I had only had perhaps half an hour of it and was very tired
