Thank you for being there
For the people of Broome
In Australia
I listen and I despair
Why would you twin
Your town up with the
Anguish of Taiji
Why would you want to bring
Down hard
Their sick mentality

The dolphin hunts are wicked
They are evil and some more
Undignified and vulgar
Commercialized and raw
The mortal trepidation
For those pods caught in each drive
The gracelessness and the clumsiness
And how few of them survive

These are thinking caring
Lovely souls
Created never to be
Slaughtered in great numbers
In the dark cove at Taiji
Its people truly satisfied
With the unprepossessing way
With the total hideosity
And are prepared to pay

But for Broome to align itself
With them
The insentience it trails
The unfeeling and the heartlessness
Really it just pales
Into an insignificance
That mortals cannot see
Cannot fathom cannot cope
just how can that be

A pod of dolphins represents
Joyfulness and play
Its enchantment and exhilaration
All along the way
The family tree is evident
As is all the delight
The innocence apparent
In what is eternal light

Then Taiji stakes its evil claims
And the pods are torn apart
The mournfulness the misery
Its straight from the heart
Its uncomfortable and harrowed
The suffering they feel
And no regret and no remorse
The dolefulness so real

Their blood and guts
Hang in the sea
The cove turns red and they
Marvel at their prowess
The fishermen who say
A lot but so much sorrow
Is reflected in the world
In this generation breakdown
In which the innocent are hurled

I lament each passing
Its sickening for the soul
Their beauty and sublimity
Their perfection for the role
Their elegance their radiance
Bringers of such light
Paintable and handsome
To be riddled with such blight

Taiji its name is infamous
Its people they are too
Odious and repellant
In exactly what they do
And Broome sits on its hands it seems
And accepts this infamy
Its the worst thing that a town could do
And i am sad as you can see
