Whose voiceless?

So many of us born with voices
Lost our eternal power
Up against the ruling classes
Who preach down from their tower
Who rule with their iron glove
Of hate
Who threaten and who we
Build up fear and anguish for
All through history

Who force us through oblivion
With one glance of their eye
One glib woeful squint they do
And we are left to sigh
The animals have voices
Each communicate
But we despite our loving them
Can seldom validate
Their purpose of existence
We fail to consider why
They have a different countenance
Even if we try

And some of us born wicked
With a loathsomeness of old
Odious and obnoxious
Why are we really sold
On the killing of these animals
For our pleasure for our sport
For our table for our entertainment
Tardily we are caught
up in our transgression
Antagonism rules
Unfriendly disaffected
Just a bunch of fools
