Statuesque

Living statues
Everywhere we see them
We factor in heir muse
And mime and we
Stop and think and wonder
Sunshine
May be thunder
A picture
A strange tale
A fantasy

No words
No script
A colourless emotion
A lack of understanding
May be so
Pathos cordiality
Passion even ecstasy
Effusive sentimental
Affection all we know

Living statues
Come to us in city streets
And we
Are startled by their cheerfulness
And their frivolity
Resilient irrepressible
A thoughtful pensive view
Not moving an eyelid
Humourless it drew
A painting perhaps some drama
To stop us in our tracks
To move us
Even make us cry
Exploring those tiny cracks
