Chinese circus and Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe animals are at this moment
Being stalked and caught
To ship out from Maputo
To China and it’s thought
There they will be used
In Circus anywhere over there
34x Baby Elephants
30 Lions and of course
Despair

The elephants will get broken in
Probably Chinese style
roped and beaten
That is their fate
Such torture for a long while

Shipped out of Maputo
Onto a freighter they
Will make the long sea journey
And may die on the way

It certainly will be torturous
The weather and the swell
Very very testing
Sailing into hell

The hideousness of all of that
The repulsiveness springs true
It’s shocking and it’s monstrous
Best realise all through

Torn out from their families
From their jungle all that strain
It’s course and totally unrefined
And will cause them all great pain

The irksomeness of the long voyage
Standing all the way
Not getting their fresh foods
They really will have to pay

A weakening exposure
A truly frustrating end
And when they reach the Chinese port
Then where will they send

These sad and cheerless animals
To circuses everywhere
And then be made to entertain
The Chinese is that fair

It’s punishing it’s upsetting
Distasteful when one thinks
Dragged screaming from the jungle
Faster than one blinks

Join the Avaaz petition
These sentient beasts have need
They need our help so very much
And then they may succeed

A lifetime of such boredom
Of torture all the way
Of being smacked with bull hooks
All along the way

Suffering great hardship
Undergoing pain
The stress of different climates
And habitats again

Chained up in some broken barn
With little room to lay
And fed on rotten or fermented food
Every single day

Seething with total lament
Very highly strung
Angry now about it all
And all feeling unsung

Just wanting to escape all this
But hopelessly awry
Unimaginative handling
Can you bear them cry

Streams of tears will leave them
Anguish to the fore
Desolation on their minds
Their poor feet feeling sore

To await their trainers
Who may beat them black and blue
Defeat them with their wild wild whips
Till misery comes on through

The beauty of their habitat
The jungle once so green
The sublimity of forests
Where they all had been

We ask that Mr. Mugabe
Uses his strength of mind
And stops this vile dark exportation
If somehow he can find

By the money some are making
For tortured animals pay
Please think about these animals Sir
They should remain in Zimbabwe
