Ricky

A lady bear in a cage so small
For 18 years would have to gall
The most patient it would seem to me
Imagining if she could only be free

In a sanctuary somewhere to feel the sun
Upon her back to up and to run
To taste the sweet air and the morning dew
And just be free to enjoy the view

The cage she is in is in a state
The water is green nothing is great
It’s a small ice cream parlour and she is the star
A limiting life for she doesn’t walk far

Walking on concrete day in day out
Her hair is all matted
What is this about
A miniature golf course
A burger joint there
A bloody menagerie
And that poor bear

Is suffering really
The owner says she
Was born in a cage
Therefore captivity
Is all Ricky knows
She loves it and so
Setting her free
She’d have no place to go

This arse what would he know
Selling ice cream
And burgers and shit
He doesn’t dream
About running in fields
About freedom for he
Wouldn’t know what it was
It’s no place to be

For him but poor Ricky
Give her the chance
She’d be off like a shot
A fine old dance
Exploring the environment
Playing she’d be
Contented and feeling
So very happy
