Keiko. [the lucky one]

The Japanese called him Keiko
I have to ask though why
how could he be lucky
Be a lucky guy

A wild boy fit and healthy
Caught in a fishermans net
Taken to an aquarium
As a prisoner was set

Up to have the human tribe
Stare at him all day
Thats where he lost his freedom
That how he had to pay

In 82 they sold him
To,Ontario
where he was forced
To perform his tricks
All part of their show

Day in day out leaping
Through the hoops was he
Dead fish it was awful
The most awful place to be

In 85 moved on again
This time to Mexico
Thinner air and very hot
Joining another show

In 92 Warner Bros
The free Willy Film was made
And Keiko took the leading role
Quite an accolade

Children they adored him
It was a Smash hit
Free Willy it took centre stage
The night sky had been lit

So many people watched the film
And got behind it, they
Earth Island searched and was hopeful
Of Somewhere else to stay

In Oregon an aquarium
Somewhere he could go
And sort of get acclimatised
To freedom from the show

United parcels service
Were sponsors in the deal
They airlifted dear Keiko
To a seawater pen for real

He gained 1000 pounds in weight
And his skin lesions did heal
More than 2 million people came
He had such great appeal

He was getting healthier
9620 pounds
Eating lots of live fish
And doing the rounds

In 98 the US Airforce
Took him to the bay
In Iceland
Under day care day care all the way

He was back in Icelandic waters
Live fish everywhere
In 2000 a tracking device
Made him more aware

He got back with wild orcas
And swam to Norway
Over 1000 miles he swam
In the wild, every day

When he got to Norway
He followed boats to port
And was surrounded by so many
He was Kind of caught

He surely wasn’t able
To go back to the wild
But was quick to follow humans
Rather like a child

He was looking for his own family
And in 2003
he beached himself
Depressed as hell
Just trying to be

He Died it’s said of pneumonia
Slavery appears
Never the ideal solution
For Commerce interferes

It’s sadly always selfish
These marine parks hold no sway
They talk up conservation
As the order of the day

But reality Shows a different aspect
It’s so wrong to delay
Their release, back into the wild
It’s shocking how much they pay

It’s one big awful circus
Fat cats that is all they are
It’s all about their balance sheet
Really it’s so far

Away from true reality
It is just subjugation
They are prisoners that’s all they are
Lost to their true creation

The Japanese called him Keiko
The lucky one but he
Was anything but lucky
That’s if you ask me

Humans are a breed apart
They are fuelled on lust and pain
They see a victim as a way to make
Some financial gain

When we hear this story
And many more we know
We all must rise above them
Our emotional love must grow
