Invisible

A homeless man
Feels helpless
No where to lay his head
He hasn’t got a fixed address
Just a shop doorway no less

Nobody now notices him
His clothes ragged and torn
His hands are cold and gnarled and sore
Like us all yes he was born

He was a little baby
He had a loving mum
She carried him for 9 long months
In her nice warm tum

But now she’s dead
And he’s now alone
And we cannot see
Him sitting on the pavement
Apologetically

Legs go this way
Legs go that way
People on their phones
Shoppers no one sees him
No one hears his groans

They cannot feel his sadness
They do not wonder where
He will soon be bedding down
On a park bench somewhere

No food in his stomach
No pillow for his head
Just cold wind and rain
Perhaps
Inside an old dark shed
