Inis and tolin

An angel almost doll like
As beautiful as you ever saw
A crumpled little parcel
Lying at heaven’s door

War such evil bitterness
It soaks into the soul
It pickles the emotions
It then can take control

And here were two young children
On the West Bank in Palestine
Getting off their school bus
Just where the sun did shine

Inas and dear Tolin
And there was no sign
That anything was untoward
Till the extremist drove his car
Into them and maimed them
This was just how far

The hatred had got into him
That he could run them down
His rusty metal vehicle
Driving through the town

He could then engulf them
Bust their bones at will
And all because of hatred
That he tried to instil

There they lay the two of them
Out there on the street
Two angels neither moving
Ions gone to meet

The angels she for certain
Was lost upon this earth
Tolin still had life in him
His spirit could unearth

A chance perhaps to counter
The evil that they felt
And recover from this awful day
From the cards they both were dealt

The low life might surrender
His heart his soul his mind
For slaughtering the purity
Apparently so blind

To the innocence of childhood
And the sanctity of life
That he could put his foot down
And create maximum strife

The permanence of death
It logs into our brain
We feel that child’s humanity
We see that wild disdain

The thoughts of their assassin
As he drove so violently
Aimed his car straight for them
And maimed them instantly

Tore them from the amazing web of life
With one vile thought
Of the vilest sick depravity
In that moment caught

And a two babies full of giggles
Full of wonder full of care
Were cut down with explosive force
And just left bleeding there
