Detroit can shine again

Detroit has reached an impasse
The adults have proved to be
Helpless in the face of corporate power
And so the free
Are chained and blocked from speaking
Slaves to the regime
Broken hearted angels
With less heart to redeem
Whose water they have cut off
Each blast of violence gets
It’s share of people’s spirits and minds
And kind of let’s
The children all around the place
Take on the need to shine
To look into the mayhem
And step up to the line
In many ways the voiceless
They listen they are told
Fruitlessly they suffer
Although not being old
They suffer as do animals
The voiceless ones who share
The sadness and the agony
And at this point still the air
