Adopted

“Milda” was adopted

unwanted in a way

not loved like she could have been

but loyal enough to stay

so many dogs go through this

and come out the other side

still anything but happy

which cannot be denied

this particular dog though

was adopted by

a women who was upright

and her feelings truly high

she loved the under dogs of life

her perception of them true

whether human beings

or dogs she tried to do

what society had neglected

to do

and thankfully

ex cons and dogs were grateful

and loved her tenderly

wrongdoers often get the

thick end of a wedge thereafter

with police records and employment

some see little laughter

they struggle and they re offend

and life becomes a pain

but this special women

saw it as it was

and helped them gain

respect again she helped through

the vagaries of life

picked them up when they fell down

and helped them with the strife

she knew all about the loyalty

and a sense of duty for

those who really lost their way

who she just did not ignore

her claims of conscience

took her far

and obligation she

took upon her shoulders

and did it dutifully

she did intercede

when others failed along the way

she was clearly merciful

and her forbearance it did play

a huge part  in ability

to really help those who

had reached a point of no return

not knowing what to do

“milda” came into her world

and perceptively could feel

this women had so very much

her love was clearly real

for she adopted many

that society shunned all day

and brought them out of darkness

and helped all of them pay

“milda”grew to love her

a mother she never had

and for many years was cared for

and then of course so sad

the lady at a great age

she tragically passed away

and “Milda”  realizing

just wanted to stay

close by her afterall

her friend was everybody’s friend

everybody loved her

they did so in the end

how could she up and leave them

a consequence of life

and so she stayed for the funeral

sharing all that strife

that everybody shared that day

waving farewell to

a women and a carer

who loved souls their lives through

who never had a mean word

for any of them at all

who always was behind them

in case they did fall

she chose that obligation

and  she was duty bound

unconditional caring

for the waifs and strays

around

she died  and they were stricken

as was Milda but now she

is being cared for by some of them

unconditionally
