Goose down from live plucked birds

Hungary and China are exporters
of this stuff
in colder climes the population
just can’t get enough
when asked the industry
tells you
its all from the slaughterhouse
but in point of fact they are lying
or mistaken
and my grouse
is with the public and with
producers who live pluck and they do
in Sweden its been proven
its very very true

birds for meat production
are plucked at least 4 times
and birds for egg production
thats when the figure climbs
to 15 times in some cases
such torture and such pain
imagine having your hair pulled out
by the roots it is insane

great tufts of hair
its uninmaginable it is torture
through and through
its enough to make my eyes water
seeing what they do
it breaks my heart that
women would do this work
and be
happy to torture geese like this
for all eternity

in many cases their skin is ripped
and sewn back yes sewn back
with a darning needle
its a, bloody attack
the pain must be excruciating
and no wonder for they cry
they scream its just a nightmare
and some of course do die

and what the hells is it all about
those under feathers they
keep the bird warm in the water
and therefore that will pay
in comforters, in bedding
for rich sods in the west
or anywhere where it gets cold
Down is up and the best

way to keep our bodies warm
but nobody seems to know
that up to 80% of all geese
are live plucked thats a blow

to anyone’s realization
that geese are tortured and
its all because of profit
oh! yes we understand
the blooody corporations
are at it all the time
any method for making it
helping it to climb

torture who cares they will say
get the workers too
strip the bird until its naked
thats the thing to do
and the retailers are useless
the labels tell you now’t
nobody is looking
what is it about?

consumers remain ignorant
and those that know dont care
and even if they did
the shops, most are not aware

but it is happening out there
Geese are being stripped
tortured they scream as it happens
again humans have dipped
into the abyss gently
they wear and use this down
these feathers ripped from live birds backs
by some, low paid clown

in China where it happens
in Hungary as well
but also in other places
we take these birds to Hell
and they are really intelligent
they feel pain just like us
millions of them get the treatment
dont kick up a fuss

we make a lot of profit on
live plucking so pipe down
thats the feeling in the trade
their bloody cries we drown
out with piped in music
that way no one hears
otherwise it would get to you
and raise some people’s fears

Geese are birds and birds are daf’t
thats how some may think
But geese are really genuine
great pets on the brink
they do and will send intruders
away if any try
and break into your house dear friends
and that is no lie

they make really excellent guard dogs
an they really seem to care
so then when we allow live plucking
we have to be aware
they feel each feather torn from them
imagine it, can you
your hair pulled out until it bleeds
I mean what would you do

probably die of shock I think
you’d shake and cry and feel
tormented and tortured and sick in side
I mean this is for real
so why go on and do this
when you know its causing stress
is the profit worth it
I’d settle for less

we have to stop this process
insist on dead plucked down
if its live plucked boycott it
lets all go to town
lets boycott DOWN completely
until, we have a guarantee
and if its not forthcoming
then down can never be
