Chocolate and the slaves producing it

Don’t fool yourselves
the corporates have been at it all
these years
agony and no ecstasy
but lots of sacks of tears

the big names you all know them
they know how to make
profit, margins and more profit
its all, for their own sake

I’ve been working with Cacao
in South West Asia, and I know
how bloody hard it really is
how that stuff does grow

40% of all the chocolate
being sold in corporate stores
is slavery tainted chocolate
which everyone ignores

and the kids have all been stolen
or their parents paid
a measly sum
they dont get paid and on them is laid
a lot of agony and danger
enough to make me numb

machetes to the fore
accidents galore
chopping off their fingers
as they chop those fruits
and they are almost naked
they certainly dont wear boots

just corn mash and bananas
and the wooden floor for sleep
no windows no clean water
what they sow you reap

injured, its back breaking work
this corporate nonsense here
milk from the dead calves is added
and sugar don’t shed a tear

yet, the time is coming
those chocolate cakes and eggs
are putting pounds on your behind
and also on your legs

chocolate costs a fortune
in agony and pain
so what you save remember
try now to refrain

from buying corporate nonsense
go to the artisan
let the big names go to hell
that would be the plan

the slaves will get some rest then
and they need it they really do
whether they work for nothing folks
its all down to you
