Cyanide has killed at least 41 Elephants in Zimbabwe

Some 25,000 elephants killed
last year alone
you ask why
IVORY it was the tusks that they wanted
that’s why the elephants die
money and profit
that’s where it does lie

the scourge of the marketplace
thuggery too
there is a big market
for what they now do
add to the melee of murdering sods
prepared to do anything fast
this syndicate seemingly broken
their flipping die it was cast

by poisoning waterholes
can you imagine the judgement
of these crooked men
for its not just the elephants
that will be killed
but many and no one knows when

and how
its horrific
all those who drink will be killed
cyanide laced salt
just dumped in the pools
the blood of so many now spilled

so a few can grab hold of their
parcel of ivory
hacked off the elephants, they
deal in the snot and the grot
of the dead
and the dying and they’re on their way

they are low life the gutter
would not want
the dregs of society who
trade in the death and destruction of many
unconscionable, through and through

these are inhuman they are complete devils
and where in their minds eye this sits
is beyond me
for what they have unleashed abroad
is a far reaching terrible sin
that will kill with unmentionable agony
the innocent now cannot win

poachers or hunters or ass holes
whatever they call themselves
they
are in it for what they can make for themselves
they are closer in fact to decay

41 Elephants wiped off this earth
precious souls each one and they
were slaughtered without even a thought
of their suffering
and their ivory stolen away

God help them those ignorant senseless
creations
who stoop to such lows and who face such
damnations
they have to be given a death sentence to
ensure other sicko’s think before they do

similar vile acts it must be that we
protect our wild life or extinction will be
in our short life times
its coming real fast
the elephant and the Rhino
their die appears cast

by the insensitive rogues
and the retailers who
want that fast buck
and just do what they do
cyanide poison put into a pool
shows a degree of such ignorance
that does appal

41 Elephants what can one say
but sink on our knees
and just cry out today
at the arrogance out there
and the terrible greed
whether they sleep
and how many bleed

they have no concern
no nothing at all
its just the lust for money
the corporate cool!
I’m sick in my stomach
to see these beasts die
they do not harm anyone
yet we apply

such terror against them
we torture them so
and our children and their children
yes they will know
what brutes we all were
pushing them head first
into their grave
by turning a blind eye
to what’s going on
till all of the tusks
they were born with
were gone

made into trinkets in China
or worse
handles for posh knives
that is the curse
that will hang over this generation
who seemed
too complacent with poachers
whilst the corporates creamed

off the profits and wasted it
farther away
than Africa now
where their rotting bones lay
