“Cora” the German Shepherd

The two extremes were clearly
so in evidence today
when looking at sweet Cara
we realised the way
her courage had materialized
and rose to the extreme
and the bastard who had hurt her
was craven hearted and obscene
her injuries were terrible
she had a broken jaw
she had been shot at close range
and stabbed, her tongue no more
infection now was rampant
her agony severe
she was half the weight she should
have been
her sunken eyes were near
closing, but she wagged her tail
which was a hopeful sign
that we would now be good to her
she really was divine
that trust inside her gravely injured body
was a million times more advanced
than the cruel shit
it made us cry
to realise
that though this angel had to die
she still had kept her sanity
which lit
a light in all of what was understanding
for to purgatory clearly she had been
but still was able to respond to a little
bit of TLC
though life had been incredibly so mean
