Inappropriate behaviour

I thought along with S H A R K
it was inappropriate to take
a group of kids from the YMCA
to rodeo and make
them watch the quite mean
calf roping
a pastime to abhor
it clearly causes suffering
of that I too am sure

to see them cut short
some at speed
and tossed into the air
[pulled down and manhandled
almost everywhere
clearly they are upset
you can hear the babies cry
to my mind this is wrong
and even some alas may die
S H A R K thought this
was cruel and wondered how the children
felt
the cards those animals got out there
were unkind and were dealt
a blow to their real safety
and the possibility
of injury and agony
happening easily
The YMCA refuted the suggestions
that at a local level they thought they
were at liberty to take them to the rodeo
and didn’t accept the comments anyway

and this is where it all appears
subjective
what is cruel and what is purely sport
calf roping seemingly is very skilful
and something children really can be taught
