Pigs in the heat

of all animals to put the frighteners
on during the heat
Pigs are those with
no sweat glands
a heat wave will
unseat
their, whole equilibrium
such tension and such stress
and so to shove them into crates
we clearly don’t care less

they must be nigh on roasting
and so what they will need
is water but we leave them in the sun
which will succeed
in giving them ten nightmares
they will be left to feel
in every sense uncomfortable
in every sense unreal

thank goodness we have angels
who brought some water there
who let them drink
who let them think
it wasn’t all despair
coming at them in this sun
a little soul came too
a lot of understanding
and for that we must thank you
