Jeju Island South Korea dog farms breeding for the home meat trade (Graphic)

We have to try and come to terms
with a sick mentality
the Asian’s seem to relish dogs
they eat it regularly
China, Vietnam and Laos
and South Korea do too
the market is a huge one
but a shocking one to view

despite the western activists
the problems of abuse
are rampant in a country
where punishment is loose
there are laws, but policing
them is sparse one has to say
despite terribly abusive methods
going on now every day

its basic very crude each segment
of this awful trade
carried out by heartless people
very poorly paid
they have so much resentment
which is taken out on those
innocent canine travellers
who clearly justapose
a terrible indictment
for everyone who does
work around them day and night
that mournful doleful buzz

of victims, they are victims
caught up in a melee
of bodies just awaiting death
and such depravity
packed in small wire cages
and then just trucked away
terror marked on each one’s face
why do they have to pay?

for man un kind’s frustration
his mental sickness, why?
that sense of awe
as they hit the floor
it is no way to die
their short lives take on agony
they share it, one by one
they feel it, but are powerless
their only wish was to run

to somehow gain their freedom
and just to limp away
but clear in their minds
that, that dream is just a dream
today
rejected by humanity
its now a hellish wait
the hopelessness apparent
still their cries do not abate

despondence and pure heart ache
is clearly in their eyes
the wretched scenes of squalor
half starved and wet with flies
each one of them is a beating heart
has fervent eyes and a soul
each one has a passion for life
and each one had a goal

but each one has to come to terms
with a vileness of desire
the human being in Korea
consigns them to the fire
there’s nobody to comfort them
in their hours of need
nobody to care for them
as some of them do bleed

crushed like sardines
mangled in a maze of flesh and bone
and though they are together
of course they are alone
they feel let down, they feel so sad
they cry inside for what they’ve had
is woefully short of life that they
had hoped for on that sunny day
when they were born
and quickly torn
and shoved into a cage
and fed on very little
and kept there for an age

and now this violent journey
to the place of no return
crushed together and aching
that fills them with concern
like shadows at the grisly gate
they are forced to endure
the sights and sounds of evil
all throaty and impure

the truck stops… the new experience
clearly the mood is stark
the crates are then manhandled
everywhere is dark
a big moon shines above them
its hot still, how they feel
panting tongues their mechanism
how it does reveal
their earnest need for water
but it is not to be
they face their final journey
with water poverty

down onto the ground their smashed
broken limbs we see
some already have passed on
others frantically
waiting for the hammers
waiting for the knives
waiting for the final curtain
and an end to their sad lives
but this too isn’t easy
for each must witness those
who happen to be in front of them
and so the panic grows

as one by one their beaten
and butchered on the floor
amongst great clouds of blue bottles
all dripping wet with gore
wherever else they are going
at least they are leaving hell
man has created the dark abyss
which these dogs know so well

some close their eyes
and take the hit
others fight like mad
this perilous departure
is the worst kind of so sad
to bear witness to each other’s death
is a torture to the end
some were sisters
some were parents
the message it does send

far into the ether
where the spirits are going to ply
South Korea is an evil dirty
country which is why
any way of leaving it
is better than to stay
to come to terms with this
at least, it is another way

of exiting ones life on earth
and knowing that you will
be cut up cooked and eaten
and paid for when the bill
is added up and given to the diners
who will be
satisfied to swallow down
this vile debauchery

those dog consuming ass holes
may feel it all inside
the churning in their colons
for there was no place to hide
that egregious treatment
will haunt them for all time
will churn up in their being
and choke them with their chyme
